Discovery Education streaming
Arizona teachers have powerful resources available to them at no cost through IDEAL. Discovery Education streaming has over 9000 videos available. Many are aligned to Arizona Academic Standards. To access these videos, just log into www.ideal.azed.gov and click on the Curriculum Resources link and click “Go” under DiscoveryStreaming. To search for videos, just choose English Language Arts and your grade level.
Example 1: Stories About Vowels: Baby Bentley Bee: Short E and Long E - "Baby Bentley Bee," a basic reading instruction program for youngsters in grades K-2, cleverly weaves four complete lessons on short e and long e sounds into the story of a little bee who becomes a circus ringmaster. Example 2: Phonics in Context: Word Beginnings, Middles, and Ends - Students seek out clues in words that will help them become better readers and writers. In this lively presentation, using rhymes and songs, viewers learn common beginning and ending blends and digraphs, how to form simple plurals and plurals following s, ch, th, wh, using the -ed and -ing endings, prefixes, long vowel combinations, contractions and R affected words.
