PBS KIDS Island is the Web companion to all the broadcast series that are a part of the PBS KIDS Raising Readers initiative. PBS KIDS Island focuses on helping young children develop a variety of important literacy skills described by the National Reading Panel. These include everything from identifying letters and their sounds to learning new vocabulary. PBS KIDS Island delivers these literacy skills with reading games featuring favorite PBS KIDS Raising Readers programs like Between the Lions, Sesame Street, Super Why, and WordWorld. Children can earn tickets, win prizes, and build their own Island amusement park. Each level builds upon the one that came before—often reviewing skills that children have already practiced, but featuring different characters and a new twist.

At PBS KIDS Island students, teachers, parents and caregivers can stream videos of PBS KIDS programs, find fun interactive content, teacher lesson plans, parent and caregiver activity suggestions, printable activities and more. This vast and rich learning resource is also available for free. Many of the resources are available even without creating an account, but to take full advantage of all the activities, parents, caregivers and educators simply register themselves and then create their student account(s).

While PBS KIDS Island is a rich learning resource that is available for free, if you are an educator or caregiver working in PBS KIDS Raising Readers grant supported zip codes (85003, -004, -007, -009, -222, -247) and would like more in depth training you can request a FREE workshop by contacting Mandy Bachali at mandy.bachali@asu.edu.  If you are not covered by these zip codes please visit our workshop page to request more information.
