Episode Seven - Civil Rights Today

Join the Executive Producer of POV's documentary All the Difference, New York Times Best-Selling Author, TV Host & Youth Advocate Wes Moore as he leads a special youth town hall discussion about race, racism and other issues of equality in the United States in 2016. Through this live interactive webcast students can ask questions of our panel of experts, express their concerns, present their solutions to these civics-based issues, and take part in real-time opinion polls.

Gulf Detectives

Gulf Detectives at Dauphin Island Sea Lab is an exciting opportunity for students to access beaches, coastal wetlands, Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico without leaving their desks. This virtual laboratory and field experience is designed to increase students' knowledge of science and encourage interest in STEM subjects. The unique experience will give students an opportunity to witness the impact of science on their daily lives and increase understanding and appreciation for science and the marine environment. This first episode will explore the Mobile Bay Watershed.

Community Based Professional Development

The Yuma Region Partnership Council, in collaboration with Eight-Arizona PBS is pleased to announce: Community Based Professional Development for all early childhood educators in Yuma County. Whether you are center-based, school-based or home-based, please plan on attending. No Charge!

All workshops will be held from 8:00am to noon with a light breakfast and check-in at 7:30am.

All sessions will be based around Developmentally Appropriate Practice and will directly apply to what you do every day. Join national and local experts in learning new techniques and practicing the proven methods you use every day.

Yuma Early Literacy Project

Eight-Arizona PBS Educational Outreach will provide a series of six FREE Family Literacy Workshops at various locations throughout Yuma. These 2-hour workshops will enhance your understanding of reading and language development of children birth to 5 years of age. Parents will be provided many FREE materials to enhance literacy with your young child.
