Community Cinema - A Path Appears

From the team that brought you the groundbreaking Half the Sky, A Path Appears goes to Colombia, Haiti, Kenya, and the USA to uncover the harshest forms of gender-based oppression and human rights violations, and solutions being implemented to combat them.

College Access Training

With the nation’s increased focus on college and career readiness, now is the perfect time to update or enhance your skills in this area.  AzCAN’s College Access Professional (CAP) Training is designed to give everyone working with Arizona students the knowledge and expertise needed to provide assistance with planning for postsecondary education.  The four module, on-line curriculum includes readings, activities, and online discussions.  Each module takes approximately 4 weeks and 20 hours to complete.

 The next scheduled training module, “College, Career, and Academic Planning” begins with an optional in-person orientation in Phoenix on Friday, November 7.  

For $40 you can join this cohort and earn 20 continuing education units. Register now, read more online, or contact the CAP Coordinator Jill Zitt for more information.

Wednesday Wind Up

Come have fun at Civic Space Park in Downtown Phoenix with food trucks, music, games, and rotating pop-up activities at Wednesday Wind Up each Wednesday from 11am-1:30pm. In celebration of the PBS Fall Arts Festival 2014 join PBS and all the partners of Wednesday Wind Ups beginning September 17th with local performing, visual artists and free on site arts and crafts projects.

Early Childhood Workshops

Community Based Professional Development

The Yuma Region Partnership Council, in collaboration with Eight-Arizona PBS is pleased to announce: Community Based Professional Development for all early childhood educators in Yuma County. Whether you are center-based, school-based or home-based, please plan on attending. No Charge!

All workshops will be held from 8:00am to noon with a light breakfast and check-in at 7:30am.

All sessions will be based around Developmentally Appropriate Practice and will directly apply to what you do every day. Join national and local experts in learning new techniques and practicing the proven methods you use every day.

Yuma Early Literacy Project

Eight-Arizona PBS Educational Outreach will provide a series of six FREE Family Literacy Workshops at various locations throughout Yuma. These 2-hour workshops will enhance your understanding of reading and language development of children birth to 5 years of age. Parents will be provided many FREE materials to enhance literacy with your young child.
