Eight Educational Outreach-ASSET will provide “Qwest School Success for the Entire Family” backpacks to 2000 families that will promote approximately 10,000 children’s success PreK-20 in partnership with the Arizona Department of Economic Security Regional Prevention Councils across the state. ASSET has included items that help the youngest learners with kindergarten readiness, and older siblings with reading, math and science homework tips. Healthy habits information for promoting good nutrition and exercise will be included. Additionally, smart and safe use of media, including good television watching habits, as well as safety online, will also be incorporated. Finally, there is a strong focus on prevention in each backpack. Sesame Street’s Families Stand Together and tips from the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Consortium and its members have provided information for parents and caregivers to help deal with difficult issues together as a family and get assistance when needed. Referral information for adults is also incorporated along with websites and phone numbers for immediate help on a variety of issues.
