The Early Childhood Project provided by Qwest is a collaborative effort between ASSET/EIGHT/ASU, OESD114, and PBSTeacherLine. The project is designed to meet the professional development needs of early childhood programs through the extension of online professional development opportunities and resources to participating educators. An educator self-assessment tool with responce aligned resources and the Kindergartener in Progress (KIP) instrument as a kindergarten readiness tool are additional components of the project.These resources are available in an online environment called, “The Neighborhood”.

  "The Neighborhood" Resources Provided by Qwest:
     

The Neighborhood is the online environment that hosts all the early childhood resources provided by Qwest. Cadres of early childhood educators from every Educational Service District in Washington State are provided access to "The Neighborhood". For information on acquiring a username and password, contact asset@asu.edu.
   
  360° Early Childhood provided by Qwest:
360° Early Childhood provided by Qwest is an online educator self-assessment and professional development planning tool, designed to provide resources to improve early childhood instruction.
   
 

Kindergartener in Progress (KIP):
Kindergartener in Progress (KIP) is an interactive online kindergarten readiness tool for use by preschoolers, parents and care providers. The imaginary neighborhood called KIP Town is home to Kip, a curious giraffe who learns as he explores sites in his community. Each place he visits contains developmentally appropriate activities to prepare him for kindergarten.

The activities are based on early learning standards gathered from state and national resources. KIP will be available to the public in spring 2008.
