Curriculum: Professional Development Consulting
Adaptive
Curriculum is an award winning, standards and research
based, online collection of Activity Objects in middle and
high school math and science. ASSET provides professional
development services (e.g., instructional training design,
face to face workshops, and webinars) in collaboration with
ASU faculty working for Sebit, Inc to support the integration
of Adaptive Curriculum in middle and high school classrooms
across the United States and its territories. Sebit, Inc.
is based at the ASU Skysong Campus in Scottsdale, Arizona. |

The
APEX Project: Arizona Providers Engaging in Excellence (APEX)
in partnership with Rio Salado College
The
APEX Project: Arizona Providers Engaging in Excellence (APEX) has the primary goal to advance the quality of care and education
for Arizona's children by developing and sponsoring educational
opportunities for childcare personnel to improve their knowledge
and skills when working in any settings (e.g., family day
care homes, centers, schools). At its core, the APEX Project
is proposed as an intentional model for professional development
that takes advantage of andragogic principles using high-tech
(technology-mediated) and high-touch (interpersonal) supports
to increase competencies and skills as well as professional
development toward a self-defined educational goal (CDA National
Credential, college certificate and/or college degree). The
APEX Project is made possible through generous funding from
the First Things First Northwest Maricopa and South Central
Phoenix Regional Councils. |

Rio Salado College to meet the educational and accreditation
needs of Arizona's child care directors and administrators.
Eight Educational Outreach: ASSET has partnered with Rio Salado
College to provide technology integration training and support
for adult learners through generous funding from the First
Things First Central Maricopa Regional Council. |

Yuma Early Literacy Project
Eight PBS Educational Outreach is conducting multiple series of six free literacy workshops for parents and caregivers aimed at stimulating brain and language development in children from birth through age five at various locations throughout Yuma County, Arizona. These 2-hour workshops use multiple resources from PBS Early Literacy materials and enhance parents and caregiver’s understanding of reading and language development of children birth to 5 years of age. The workshop series are underwritten by a grant from First Things First. |

Kindergartener
in Progress (KIP):
Kindergartener in
Progress (KIP) is an interactive online kindergarten readiness
tool for use by preschoolers, parents and care providers.
The imaginary neighborhood called KIP Town is home to Kip,
a curious giraffe who learns as he explores sites in his community.
Each place he visits contains developmentally appropriate
activities to prepare him for kindergarten.
The activities are based on early learning standards gathered
from state and national resources. |

ASSET, a self-supporting department of Eight/KAET, is proud
to offer PBS TeacherLine to ASSET members across Arizona.
ASSET is one of the original 16 local PBS stations selected

Ready
to Learn
Eight, Arizona PBS is one of 11 public television stations across the United States that will serve as demonstration sites to test math and literacy content developed through a U.S. Department of Education Ready To Learn grant. Working in partnership, CPB and PBS are leading a Ready To Learn-funded initiative, Expanded Learning Through Transmedia Content, to develop content across platforms -- including video, online games, mobile apps, and off-line activities -- that builds an educational experience for kids using their favorite PBS KIDS characters. Eight is working with school district and community partners across the state to bring this content to communities in need. |

Life: Eduisland 4, Eight Educational Outreach: ASSET
ASSET provides on online, three-dimensional interactive
educational experience for educators and community members
within Second Life. Explore various historic
locations on Eduisland 4 and learn about the rich history
and culture captured through Eight's Arizona Collection and
specifically, Arizona Stories. Attend virtual real time presentations
on PBS resources available to Arizona's classrooms. Connect with educators
from all over the world through ISTE Island, AzTEA, and Virtual
Pioneers. |
